It’s not just about the story of a business but also getting creative in the way you tell it and market it. Recently we partnered with Bulldog Metals here in Red Deer to do a weekly vlog on their YouTube channel to show what goes on at a scrapyard. I’ve known Bob, the owner for several years and so I was pretty excited about working with him on a project like this. As we brainstormed about it with his team, in what we call the story finding process, it was pretty apparent this was a scrapyard with a lot of heart. You can tell Bob is a cheerful and caring owner and boss which just trickles down through the business from his employees to his customers. As a storyteller it’s these sorts of characteristics in a business that help let the human element shine and allow others to connect with. One of the first episodes makes a great attempt at showcasing the warm heart of the company as Bob heads out on an enormous errand to a few stores to gather up “A Ton of Turkeys” to give to the food bank just in time for Christmas. It’s pretty cool to see a jolly guy trying to make a difference in the community and it helps show that you can even find this type of soft and warm story amidst hard metal scrap. We’re excited to work with Bulldog Metals this year to create weekly content for their channel. We’re pretty sure it’ll be a fulfilling experience as we work on this project. YouTube Video >
